PASETA Namibia proudly launched a school garden at K.W. von Marees Combined School in Okahandja as part of its Back to School Campaign, bringing together learners, educators, community leaders, and partners in a meaningful moment of unity and shared purpose.
The event was honoured by the presence of the Mayor of Okahandja, Hon. Ileni Mutumbulwa, who commended the initiative as a forward-looking model that links education with practical skills and community development. Her support highlighted the importance of preparing young people not only academically, but also with hands-on knowledge that empowers them for the future.
Learning Beyond the Classroom
The school garden initiative is designed to complement classroom theory with practical agricultural experience. Through gardening, learners are introduced to food production, sustainability, teamwork, and responsibility — skills that build confidence and encourage self-reliance.
In the long term, the project also aims to inspire entrepreneurial thinking, as learners explore how agricultural produce can create economic opportunities and support local livelihoods.

Growing a Broader Vision
This launch marks the first step in PASETA Namibia’s broader vision to establish school gardens in more communities, helping to bridge the gap between education and real-life skills development.
